THE REST AND RECOVER FUND
Many working Black and Latina mothers in the USA don’t have the right to rest. Theraflu amplifies their voices in a call to help turn a privilege reserved for the few into a right deserved by the many. Our short film was was officially selected to premier at the Universal Multicultural Film Festival and won bronze at the Strategy Marketing Awards in the Multicultural category.
Calling In Sick
Working American women of color, especially Black and Latina mothers, lack what some may consider a fundamental human right: the right to rest. The USA is the only developed country that does not guarantee all its workers paid sick leave, deeply impacting underserved communities. “Calling In Sick” amplifies the voice of three mothers from different backgrounds, different situations, and of different ages that share in this lack of paid sick days. They tell their stories in hopes that more women like them will feel emboldened to tell theirs, and to enlighten those unaware of this inequity to join as allies, advocating for social change.
